Description

Smart Glasses for the blind are designed to assist visually impaired individuals by using an ultrasonic sensor to detect obstacles and provide real-time auditory feedback. The system, controlled by an Arduino Nano, helps users navigate their environment safely. The device is powered by a 9V battery and includes a buzzer for alerting and an LED light for visual indicators.

Components:

  1. Arduino Nano – The microcontroller responsible for processing data and controlling the system.
  2. Ultrasonic Sensor – Detects the distance between the glasses and nearby objects to sense obstacles.
  3. DC Jack – Allows an external power source to be connected for charging.
  4. 9V Battery – Powers the entire system.
  5. Battery Cap – Secures the battery to the circuit.
  6. Buzzer – Provides audio alerts to warn the user of obstacles.
  7. 7805 Voltage Regulator – Maintains a consistent 5V supply for the components.
  8. LED Light – Used for visual indicators or status signaling.
  9. PCB Board – Supports and connects all the electronic components.
  10. Glasses – Holds the electronics in place and is worn by the user.

Working: The ultrasonic sensor is mounted on the glasses and sends out sound waves to measure the distance to nearby objects. When an obstacle is detected within a preset range, the Arduino Nano processes this data and activates the buzzer to alert the user. The LED light can be used to indicate system status or provide visual cues. The 7805 voltage regulator ensures that the electronic components receive a stable 5V, while the 9V battery powers the system, with the DC jack used for charging when needed.

Benefits:

  • Enhanced Navigation: Helps visually impaired users navigate by alerting them to nearby obstacles.
  • Safety and Awareness: The buzzer provides real-time feedback to avoid collisions and potential hazards.
  • Portable and Wearable: The glasses design makes it easy to wear and use throughout daily activities.
  • Reliable Power Supply: The 9V battery and voltage regulator ensure stable and long-lasting operation.
  • Cost-Effective Solution: Utilizes affordable components to create an effective assistive technology for the visually impaired.
